Starbucks Chocolate Chai Tea Latte Copycat Recipe

Mmm.. I don't order a lot of specialty drinks from Starbucks but when I saw their Chocolate Chai Tea Latte I just had to give it a try.. and it was SUPER yummy.

When I got home I thought I would give a copycat version a try. I think it came out pretty well.  It is not as sweet as the original, but their drinks are TOO sweet.

But if you have a sweet tooth you could probably add more sugar.

Chocolate Chai Tea Latte Copycat Recipe- 4-5 servings

  • 2 cups whole milk (or non dairy, unsweetened milk of your choice)
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup sugar (more or less depending on the sweetness you want)
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 2 chia tea bags
  • optional- pinch of salt
  1. On medium heat simmer milk in a medium saucepan until heated, do not boil.
  2. In a small bowl mix together  cocoa powder an sugar
  3. Whisk in cocoa/sugar mix in milk until combined
  4. Turn off the heat
  5. Add in vanilla
  6. Steep tea bags in cocoa mixture for 5-10 minutes (depending on the strength of the chia taste you want)
  7. Remove tea bags and pour into mugs
  8. Garnish with whipped cream if you like
Let me know in the comments if you try it!  And for an easier version simply use a premade cocoa mix and steep the tea bags at the end.

  1. I've never tried a chocolate chai latte from Starbucks so I have nothing to compare this to, but it is delicious - both hot and iced. Thank you for sharing :)
