Who Else Need's Less Stress? 6 Tips for Busy Moms

Feeling like you never get a moment of peace?  Yeah, me too!

Cell phones are constantly luring us, kids with homework, housework, bosses, husbands.... the list goes on.  But there are ways we can grab a quiet moment here and there.  Or if we don't have time for that we can simply make life easier on ourselves so we don't feel so stressed;

Check out these 6 tips to help you fit in much needed “you” time:

1. Get up early.  This is a tough one, since I love my beauty sleep.  But especially when you have children, the day begins like a race.  If you get up a little early it can give you some "you time" . Might be able to check you email in peace, drink your coffee or tea, read a book, meditate or read a book.

2. Revel in the Small Stuff.  Make the ordinary a special occasion. If you take a bath, light some candles, use bubble bath, turn on some quiet music and use an inflatable bath pillow.  This make just getting clean almost feel like you are at the spa.  Love movies?  Make sure to turn out the lights, pop some popcorn and snuggle on the couch with your honey.

3. Ask your family for help.  Kids love moms but time spent with dad is great too.  Let them play with dad while you go shopping for a new outfit or go out for coffee. Get the kids involved with helping out, too.  It's fine for kids to make their own breakfast, if they are old enough.  And they can easily fold and put away their own clothes.

4. Be a "Boy Scout".  If you are always prepared  you can spend more time being a little "lazy".  Prepare the families lunches the night before.  Lay out clothes for the next day and place backpacks by the front door so kids can snatch them on their way out.  Truly, the less you have to do in the morning, the calmer you will be with your family.

5. Take exercise breaks.  OK, being a Lazy Girl and all, this is not my personal idea of a great time.  That said, getting a little physical activity in your day can have a great effect on your mood.  Exercise helps you to think clearly and stretches the muscles.  It can also drain away the stress as powerful endorphins are released into your system.  Don't over think it, in my opinion, heading to the gym is stressful.  So take the dog for a quick walk, do jumping jacks during a television commercial or walk to the bus stop to pick up the kids if you can.

6. Find Time to Laugh.  What is funny to you? Is it a funny calendar cube on your desk or could you subscribe to a daily joke site?  Laughing releases stress and can lift your spirits significantly.  

Take care of yourself.  How can you take care of others if you are so burnt out that you can barely function, you can't.

Repeat to yourself:  I can put myself first sometimes..I can put myself first sometimes..

It's OK.  It's healthy.
